Catching up....

Tuesday was Sew with Friends day here. We had chicken salad and fruit salad and made plans for a sewing retreat in a couple of weeks. I have no idea what the other girls worked on, but I made a couple more zipper bags.

I am just past 300 posts and one of these days I will have a giveaway. Would a set of these zipper bags be good to win? I won't announce the day, instead I will pick the day before hand, not tell anyone and pick from the comments on that day. So you all better start commenting as you never know what day it will be....isn't that sneaky?? LOL

Wednesday was DH birthday and we took him out for a steak dinner. I wonder what happened to Thursday and Friday? Oh, Friday I cleaned...YUK and caught up on laundry, double YUK!!

Saturday I picked up my sister and we went to get fabric for a baby quilt for my niece. I plan to do a triple Irish Chain using these.....

I will cut it all out next weekend and pack it up for my quilting weekend...

Yesterday and today was spent catching up in the sewing room. Our quilt guild is doing a year long BOM. Somehow I realized that I was a month behind. In fact, I had last months blocks ready to take for show-n-tell tomorrow.... I am happy to say I am now all caught up....
8 blocks for month 8-

and then I decided to do 2 of the 4 blocks for next month...

There should be 3 more months and then we are finished. Hopefully I will have mine all put together by the last meeting....who knows?? I really struggle with scrap quilts. I don't like having to pull out 8 different fabrics and cut a 3 1/2 in square out of them. Then pull out 8 different lights and darks and cut them. I would much rather stick with FQ's and get er done.... I am however determined to keep up with this one and put it together, get it quilted and usable...

The next 2 days DH will be out of town, so I think I will start cutting and packing for retreat. We will have 2 1/2 days of sewing. We have to cook our own meals, but we are doing it simple...

Happy Sewing,
Nancy

Zipper bags are great, in my opinion......I always have lots of little things to put in them. AND...since putting zippers into bags makes me ITCH, I'd love to win them and not have to put zippers in them myself. LOL CUTE fabrics for the baby quilt and good for you for keeping up with the BOM. I've not met one yet that I stuck with and kept up with it. I always like them and start out great and then.......I don't know what happens, but it seems my "get up and go" just gets up and leaves!!! :( Maybe I should start a group for an orphan BOM quilt...and each month people can dig up from their drawers and closets another block they made and set aside and add THAT to their new BOM (and not have any sewing to do...probably the only way I'll get a BOM top done!!!)

Pretty zippered bags! Humm, I could use one too!
Im proud of you for getting the BOMS done. Is IS hard doing a scrap quilt, isn't it? I like your colors too and won't tease you at Pike/Lin about them being too "matchy-matchy"!

The zippered bags are a wonderful idea for a giveaway. Don't know any one that wouldn't find a use for one.........or two. I love the idea of how to do your giveaway. I would rather someone win who stops by frequently, rather than someone that just followed a link to find your giveaway. I think the cute fabrics you have chosen will make a very nice baby quilt. Congrats on "catching up"!!!!

Love the zipper bags. What a great idea to use up those scraps. You are right, loads of uses.
Your blog and quilt pics are inspiring and I have to mention that "baby Abbie"'s pic just makes me smile, what a cutie.
Congrats on your milestone!

I still haven't come across the zipper bag pattern but am sure they will have it at Sew Expo the end of the month. I'd much rather win yours though, LOL! Good job keeping up with the BOM. I lose steam and never seem to finish. The baby quilt is going to be gorgeous in those colors. Your blog is always fun to read, I just don't comment a lot, sorry.

Those zipper bags are so cool. I never make anything that has zippers. I think that I have zipperphobia (is that a word). Would love to win one.

Well at least now I know what the polka dot fabric is for that you were talking about! And yes, I think the zipper clutches would be wonderful for it! One of these days you're going to need to do a tutorial on how you make them. They're so cute! I know that you're going to have a GREAT time on your sewing retreat. Wish I had friends that I could do things like that with! Maybe I'd get something done. Nah, I'd just end up running my mouth the whole weekend and bring home a bunch of unsewn stuff!
