Discovery.....

I made a great discovery today. I decided to check ONE MORE TIME!! I got out my Ott Light, laid one layer of scraps from the OP quilt and one layer of fabric that I bought yesterday.

THEY MATCH!!!
How Cool Is That???

I have my borders all cut and ready to take on Retreat tomorow. Leaving bright and early at 8:45am. Lucky me, DH is working from home tomorrow, so he can help me load everything up, then down to get Miss Nancy and Anne and we are off!!

Who's Rocko....

Conversation between my daughter (K) and her son who is 5 (O)

O - Mom, what's up with this Rocko guy.

K - Who is Rocko? Is he someone in your class at school.

O - No, come on Mom. You know, he is on TV. Everybody likes him and makes a big deal.

K - Well, I don't know who you are talking about. What show is he on?

O - On TV - Rocko! Mom...You know!!! Rocko Bama....

K - Laughing.............

His sister is just as cute. Her favorite movie right now is "The Wizzer of daOZ"..
She especially likes how the buttons on Dorothys dress show up when "it gets the color part". LOL She laughs and points and yells "Look, there are her buddons".

Went to two quilt shops today and couldn't find Kona cotton in white to match my OP quilt. Came home and told DH (who was working from home today) that I needed to go to town and get food for Retreat this weekend. DH decided to go with me and when we got to the end of the road he turned right instead of left. "Where are we going?", I said. He took me to Patches, where I thought I had gotten the Kona. I bought 2 1/2 yards and it isn't the right color. Dang!! I think I am going to have to figure out a different border. I wonder where I got this white fabric I used?

Any ideas?

More work on the OP....

Yesterday I decided to keep working on the OP quilt. I am really getting to like this quilt a LOT.. I think this is the first time I have made a lap quilt that didn't have a home before it was made. I have always had a reason to make a quilt before. Either it was a Christmas or Birthday present or a new baby... This one is all because of Pat Sloan..

I decided on 3 inch sashing and borders. I got all the sashing done, but the borders are longer than 40" on the sides so I need more Kona White so I don't have to piece the borders. I will go either today or tomorrow and get more. I don't usually have a problem piecing the borders, but with white it would look less appealing with seams in the borders.

I was taking the photo above and had to put the quilt on my bedroom floor as it is too wide to hang on the design wall. Even though I am 5'9" I still had to stand on the bed and with a white bedspread I pulled it down to stand on the sheets instead..
Imagine my surprise when I found this on my bed....

My Mom won this in a raffle and gave it to me as orange isn't her color. Because I keep it white side up so it doesn't show through my bedspread I had forgotten all about it!! LOL

I'm gonna be retreat packing the next few days, but I'll still be blog reading and writing... I will have lots of show-n-tell when I get back next Monday...

ssssshhhh........ton't dell.....

I have been really working hard on this OP challenge. Come on, this is WORK. I finally decided to take a break and close my eyes...

Imagine my surprise when I opened them..

Um...do you think I had one too many of those orange Budweiser's??? So, I did some frog stitching and OK this is better....

See, there is supposed to be a pattern here...

umm...not quite perfect yet... LOL

Ok. I think this is it... all 12 blocks. Now on to the sashing. I have decided to do all white sashing to match the centers. Jury is still out on the SIZE of the sashing...3 inches seems about right..and I need to cut it tomorrow or Tuesday so I can take it with me to retreat this weekend and finish it. Of course I also have two other kits already cut to take...LOL

And Saturday when I was dropped off at the corner of Main, I found this fabric that said it would play very nicely with the left over fq from the OP. I bought a yard of the polka dot and I only have a FQ of the other. Aren't they pretty together. Wish I could find more of that beige and orange...

I have stopped working on the OP tonight. I want to watch the Academy Awards. I had heard there are some surprises on the show tonight. I love all the dresses and there was quite a bit of orange, Heidi Klum looked like she had on orange. And then there was Micky Rourke..what a comeback kid... I haven't seen any of the nominated movies of course. We seldom go to the show. In time, they will all come to HBO..and be free...and I can make my own popcorn... and watch in my jammies...LOL

Off to get some coconut cream pie or maybe popcorn would be more appropriate and OH!! one of those orange busweiser's....

I haven't heard from the first winner, so I have let the random generator pick another number...

The random generator picked 36!!!

Nancy (what a great name!!) I adore your blocks and I think maybe alternating the color positions in your blocks would look great. Wow!! Everyone is so creative. WINNER....

We have a winner...

First though I must put down some random thoughts...

Why does someone give you the finger when they are the one cutting in front of you?

Why are lunch portions smaller? And can you get dinner portions at lunch if you don't plan on eating dinner?

Does my son really NEED to have a bedroom AND a music room?

Why does my DH leave the TV on when he goes downstairs to work in the shop? Does the dog watch TV while we are gone?

Why are all the good movies in black and white? And who invented color tv anyway?

Why hasn't my Mom called me to tell me that her Buxton Purse arrived when she has been calling me for the last 4 weeks wondering where it is? (I know it arrived cause my sister told me)

Will someone help me pack for quilt retreat this Friday? First I didn't have any projects to take and now I have too many....

Ok...I am done now...and ready to reveal the winner of the glorious prize...the best key fob in the world...a lovely package of orange...

OK OK

here is the winner....

Oh wait, I forgot to tell you that DH was nice to enough to drop me off at the LQS this morning. He was on the way to the hardware store to see about getting some glass cut and he stopped the truck at the 4-way stop and I hopped out. I was on the hunt for more orange. Unfortunately my LQS is for sale and she hasn't bought any new fabric for 3 years. I did find an orange with a white polka dot and got a yard since there was a 30% off sale. Only $6 so not a bad deal.. Shoot I should have taken a photo of it to share... oh well...now on to the winner.

The Random Generator Picked Number 11.....

Looking good! If you have enough fabric, try a couple of blue blocks. If you don't like it, you can always revert back to just the orange. I think that the blue blocks will mix it up and give a great look.

Comments are closed......

And I playing with the random generator....

Stay tuned for the winner....

Nancy

I went orange spotting and ended up with red and white....

Well, it is 5pm central time and I have changed into "going out" clothes twice now. I had plans to clean the sewing room and stitch some more OP blocks, but DH had different plans. We started the morning paying bills on-line, running errands in town and then he decided he needed some work clothes. So off to the Mall we went...of course we had to make a quick side trip to RED Orange Lobster for a bit of lunch...then on to Pennys for their once-a-day sale.
I spotted ORANGE Everywhere. The cheesy garlic rolls were orange, my little cup filled with tartar sauce was orange, at Pennys the whole kitchen department was full of orange dishes and glasses and me with no camera.....
I even got him to take me to the local fabric store for some heavy duty fabric to cover my ironing board. I looked for orange ticking, but had to settle for red and white. It looks nice with my red curtains....

So I am off to make a coconut cream pie (DH favorite) and then sew some blocks...

Comments on the giveaway post will close at 8pm. I will announce the winner at 9pm (central time)

Good Luck everyone...

Happy Sewing,
Nancy

More OP challenge and a giveaway....

Oh, Look at me, all cool and such....I changed my blog colors to reflect the OP challenge...

So I got 6 blocks done yesterday. I decided to leave the corners off of mine and I will add white sashing. I am loving this block design. I have 13 fq's, so I have paired up an orange with a blue. The 13 FQ has a cream color and it's not playing well with others right now.

I am wondering about reversing the colors and making some blue blocks with orange accent. What do you think? Do you think I should just make them all like this? Or make some blue blocks. Please leave a comment. Tell you what. I will leave the comments open until 8pm tonight. Then I will use the random generator and pick one winner to get a prize...Oh! You want to know the prize? Ok, here it is...

Last week the LQS gave a demonstration on making these key fobs. I bought a kit which included the hardware and a piece of webbing cut to size. I used some of my orange and made this...

Is this worth commenting for?? I will announce the winner around 9pm Central tonight and will give you 24 hours to contact me. This gives all you anonymous commenter's a chance to win. If the winner doesn't contact me within 24 hours I will pick another winner.

Ok, got it! Let the comments begin.................

It's not too late......

I got a late start this morning. Apparently in Missouri you must have your car inspected and get new plates this year. Whatever!! I have better things to do.

I joined Pat Sloans OP Virtual Retreat.... and it's not too late for you to join this weekend of OP fun...
We are digging out our OP (orange piles) and making blocks. Lots and lots of blocks. Pat has given us the pattern for the block and now we just need to sew and sew...and sometimes stop to eat orange snacks...

Here are my first only two ....

I have strayed a bit from the block, but I really like the orange, blue and cream together. I have wanted to make a quilt from these fabric from Denyse Schmidt for a while...They are from her Katie's Jump Rope collection. I have 13 FQ's and I hope I can get at least a snuggle quilt from them...

Hey, I just noticed that I will be using all the fabrics on my blog header....cool huh?...

Ok, check in later. I hope to have more blocks soon.

Happy OP sewing,

whew!!

Ok, I got all the cutting done for my great nephews quilt (gosh, that makes me sound ancient). I'm not really old enough to have a niece that is having a baby. I mean really, those kids can't be that old.... Anyway, I have all the strips cut for the triple irish chain. It is supposed to finish 51x51. It's always fun to finish a quilt and see how close mine is to what it is supposed to be the finished size. I never quite get it perfect. Oh well....no one else in the family sews so they never know...

I also got all my house blocks done for my quilt guild BOM. Here is my 50's house block -

And my cowboy bunkhouse block -

And all 4 together...

Two more block number 9's and I will be all caught up.

AND look what came in the mail today!! Homespun magazine from Australia. And not just any Homespun, but one with MY PURSE in it. Granny Loz was my swap partner back last year and I blogged about the gifts she sent me here. Somehow Homespun saw the black and white purse on her blog and since it was a pattern from their magazine they asked if they could have a photo and feature it in their Mailbag...

I almost burned DH eggs trying to find the page fast enough.... DH wasn't impressed. He said "You didn't MAKE the bag, why are you so excited". Well duh! It's MY BAG NOW!!

I can't wait for 7 o'clock tonight. DH will watch FOX news and I will make a cup of tea and read the whole magazine...and then maybe start over again....

Thank you Lorraine. It was so nice of you to send it to me...

Gotto go check the Rock Star. His GIRLFRIEND is here and they are in the music room (with the door open), but I still pop my head in every now and then...after all he is only 16..and we all know how 16 year old hormones are!!!

It's like riding a bike.......

I took Home Ec in 7th grade. Our first sewing project was a simple apron. It was a square piece of fabric with a casing for this piece of circle plastic. I did ok. Then we advanced to an A-Line skirt. I chose denim (this was the late 60's) and even managed to put a zipper in it. I never got a grade on the skirt. It was stolen from my cubby. I did get an A but only because the teacher said it must have been good if someone took it...LOL

Fast forward to my first year of marriage. We were in the service so I couldn't find a job (they wouldn't hire Navy wives as we were considered transient) and with our very first income tax refund we bought me a small black singer sewing machine. I then proceeded to purchase a pants pattern (hey, there wasn't anyone there to tell me not to start with pants!), scissors, pins and some denim brushed cotton. I actually finished them and surprise of all surprises they fit perfectly. Of course I didn't know that brushed cotton was considered directional, so each pant leg looked a little different color...but hey, I wore them to shreds...

When the girls were little I found a pattern for a simple sun dress that was lined and made them....

Um...the girls are now married with kids of their own and I haven't sewn a garment since.

Yesterday I found out that my favorite jeans had a butt hole. A serious butt hole that apparently no one in the family noticed and I have been wearing them out for who knows how long.... Well, they aren't fixable so I will continue to wear them at home, but had to drag out the only other pair of jeans I own. I bought both pair at the same time about 6 years ago. Yea, I don't like to clothes shop... I didn't like the second pair as much so I never wore them. When I pulled them out yesterday they still had the tags on them!! LOL I crossed my fingers and put them on and THEY FIT!! YEA!! BUT....they were a tad too wide in the legs. Yea, so I don't follow fashion fads so I don't know if boot cut is in or not, but these were more like wide leg bell bottoms... from the 70's... So what did I do?? I fixed them. Turned those suckers inside out and sewed a new seam line and slimmed those puppies down. It only took me an hour and I have a new pair of jeans that actually look ok. I guess. I still don't know what kind of pants legs I am supposed to be wearing, but heck I live in a small town, no one will even notice.

I was surprised how easy it was to alter them. It was like riding a bike. I guess you don't forget how....

A photo of the bottom of jeans legs wouldn't be so cool, so I thought I would show you a photo of the fabric that the winner can choose from. I have 1/2 yard of each so I can probably get a set of zipper bags from any of the colors. When you win, just tell me which color you want and they will be made to order and sent pronto...
If you really want to go crazy, you can pick two colors....

Do you garment sew? I am thinking of venturing into making some sun dresses for the granddaughters...any patterns you would suggest?

Nancy

The Motherload.....

Oh ladies, I hit the motherload yesterday.

Went to quilt quild yesterday and rode with a friend. She mentioned she had some magazines to give away and would I like to look at them on the way up. WOULD I??
You bet!! Look at all those pages to leaf through. And these are the ones I am passing on to my two friends at retreat!! I already took out the ones I wanted. LOL

The guild has started quilting the raffle quilt for this year. I wish I would have had my camera. It is spectacular. All red and white. I swear I am going to win this year and repaint my bedroom. Next month, I will try and remember the camera and take a photo for you all. We sell raffle tickets all year and pick the winner at our Christmas Party. Last year one of the former members of our guild won and she hadn't even bought a ticket!! Her daughter bought one for her!! What a lucky gal....

Today is errand day. I need zippers!! Hopefully it will be done early and I can sew this afternoon. I found some wonderful polka dots lurking in my stash that might be perfect for a zipper bag or two... BTW, I picked the giveaway date...it's on my calendar so keep commenting to win a set of two zipper bags. One large and one medium and maybe if I have enough fabric one small one.... I may not have them all finished by the date I picked, but they will be shown soon after the winner is picked. I would love some of you lurkers to come out of hiding. Just say HI!! And these are finished products so you don't have to sew to enjoy them....

Enjoy your day!

Catching up....

Tuesday was Sew with Friends day here. We had chicken salad and fruit salad and made plans for a sewing retreat in a couple of weeks. I have no idea what the other girls worked on, but I made a couple more zipper bags.

I am just past 300 posts and one of these days I will have a giveaway. Would a set of these zipper bags be good to win? I won't announce the day, instead I will pick the day before hand, not tell anyone and pick from the comments on that day. So you all better start commenting as you never know what day it will be....isn't that sneaky?? LOL

Wednesday was DH birthday and we took him out for a steak dinner. I wonder what happened to Thursday and Friday? Oh, Friday I cleaned...YUK and caught up on laundry, double YUK!!

Saturday I picked up my sister and we went to get fabric for a baby quilt for my niece. I plan to do a triple Irish Chain using these.....

I will cut it all out next weekend and pack it up for my quilting weekend...

Yesterday and today was spent catching up in the sewing room. Our quilt guild is doing a year long BOM. Somehow I realized that I was a month behind. In fact, I had last months blocks ready to take for show-n-tell tomorrow.... I am happy to say I am now all caught up....
8 blocks for month 8-

and then I decided to do 2 of the 4 blocks for next month...

There should be 3 more months and then we are finished. Hopefully I will have mine all put together by the last meeting....who knows?? I really struggle with scrap quilts. I don't like having to pull out 8 different fabrics and cut a 3 1/2 in square out of them. Then pull out 8 different lights and darks and cut them. I would much rather stick with FQ's and get er done.... I am however determined to keep up with this one and put it together, get it quilted and usable...

The next 2 days DH will be out of town, so I think I will start cutting and packing for retreat. We will have 2 1/2 days of sewing. We have to cook our own meals, but we are doing it simple...

Not fancy but functional......

My sewing room happens to be one of the extra bedrooms. Like any bedroom, the lighting leaves a lot to be desired. One lonely Lowes ceiling fixture that casts shadows on anything and everything. One of DH Christmas presents to me this year (well, ok last year) was $$$ for new lighting. Last night we took a trip to Lowe's and after walking around the store two too many times, we found the perfect solution.

Before -

After -

I am hoping this helps me with my 1/4" seam and picking colors and getting my projects done faster???

Coffee Time Stitches has moved.....

Quilt Shop goodies, winnings and a new project....

Oh, where to start...
Let's start with the quilt shop goodies. This is what hubby watched me purchase Friday night. These fabrics have a special project just waiting for them. Not saying now, but it will be damn cute..... Afterward we went to a new to us GREAT restaurant...It's called Tony's on Main and is in historic downtown St Charles. OMG, the steak was delicious. I got the potato soup and then of course doubled my carbs and ordered the au gratins.. I "almost" couldn't finish my dinner...but I wasn't leaving any of it .. LOL

So then Saturday we decide to follow that with breakfast at Denny's and a tromp out into the wilderness. We are searching for our retirement land. I already have floor plans, just need a place to build them. We found 40 acres, lovely woods, on a hillside, a creek along the side and NO place to put a road...I mean really....no place to put a road into the property. All uphill. -sigh- We will continue to look...

Then a bit of Saturday sewing took place. I read the Lazy Girl Blog and when I read THIS entry, I knew it was for me... I followed THIS link and picked Quilters Warehouse to order from. They take paypal and I like that..
I HATE zippers. I have zipperphopia. Really!! They never look right. They always have lumps and bumps in them..This pattern takes all the work out of zippers. There are 3 sizes to choose from. I made the small and medium size because that's the color zippers I had on hand, but I see a trip to the zipper store soon...LOL
Are they not the cutest things? Soooooooooooooo many uses for these. Redwork, sewing on the go, make up bags, kids pencil bags, diaper/wipe holder, and so many more... The little one is made out of the fabric that Bren sent me! Isn't it the cutest thing? And then of course I needed a red and white one for my redwork!!
Wonder how big the large one will be. I didn't have an 18 inch zipper to try that size.

Then DH decided he was going to fulfill one of his Christmas gifts and we headed down to Lowes to look at lighting for my sewing room. Wow!! What a lot of choices. We finally found the right fixtures and the daylight bulbs and today I will help him install them. I can't wait. My sewing room is one of the extra bedrooms and only has that small overhead light. I constantly have shadows on my cutting table and ironing surface and hopefully this will help. LET THERE BE LIGHT!!! LOL

So of course, then it was dinner time and we headed over to Culvers. I had never been there, but the chicken sandwich was really good. The onion rings weren't anything to write home about.... DH said he wasn't too hungry so he only had a strawberry shake and chili cheese dog...LOL

The mail lady brought me some goodies yesterday. I was surprised to see a squishy in my mailbox as I had forgotten that I won a giveaway from Amy at Creative Chicks at play. I love my forgetfulness. It's such a treat when I find something this cute in my mailbox....

Yes, it's a doll quilt and came complete with a little pillow and pillowcase to match. BUT, I don't have any dolls and this is NOT going to a grandchild so it now has a place on my sewing room wall where I will see it every time I sew. Haven't quite figured out how to hang the pillow, but I will!! Then Amy added some lovely fabric....

Maybe some more Lazy Perfect Pouches..???

Well, DH is back from the shooting range so I need to get my butt in gear and eat breakfast so I can some light in my sewing room....

Nancy

What would you do?

Yesterday was grocery shopping and errand day. It went fairly well even though DH decided to go with...

While I was checking out at the second grocery store, I obeserved something that really made me stop and think...

Here is the scenario...what would you do...

You are the second person in line behind a woman with a full cart load of groceries. You are young (30's?) and are with your scruffy husband. (this is who was in line, not me!, well my DH looked scruffy too, but we aren't the ones I'm talking about right now) The checker scans ALL of the groceries for the person in front of you and the person hands over coupons. One of the coupons doesn't match the product. It was either the wrong size or style or for whatever reason wasn't right. The person buying the groceries heads off (walking quickly, I might add) and comes back with the correct item to match the coupon. She then apologizes to the you. Remember you are the second person in line, not the person that left and came back. Ok? Got It?

Do you

A. Yell, scream and berate the person for leaving and getting the correct item.
B. Smile when she apologizes and understand
C. Something else

A. or B.???

Why?

i am really interested.

This IS what happened. The couple behind the lady screamed and yelled and berated her for leaving the cart. I was flabbergasted. I don't happen to know either of these people, but I sure felt sorry for the lady that had the coupon wrong. I mean, really, in this day and age you need to save all the money you can. She made a simple mistake. Was the few seconds delay that important to you? The same amount of time passed and this couple decided to spend it pissed off!

Ok, off my soap box. I have just this minute talked my hubby into taking me to the quilt shop and out to dinner (ok, I am typing this today, but you won't see it until tomorrow, so YESTERDAY I talked him into taking me to the quilt shop and out to dinner, got it?) Of course, I should know what I bought, BUT I will share with you tomorrow!! Cause then I will know!!! LOL

The Red and White Studio....

Yesterday I took a trip to a wonderful Quilt/Writing Studio. Ann Hazelwood is the former owner of a local quilt shop called Patches on Main Street in old town St Charles. She owned the shop for over 30 years and this year decided to sell and devote her time to writing, teaching and quilt appraisal. She is currently writing her third book.

She invited the Redwork Club to meet this month in her new studio. She writes and quilts in the basement while he has his office upstairs. She says they practically live there...After seeing these photos, you might want to move in also...

The Redwork Club.

This quilt is from Ann's book called Polka Dot. It is out of print now and very hard to find. I have one....lol

There was no information on this quilt and I forgot to ask Ann about it. It is a whole cloth quilt with the birds hand appliqued with some embroidery accents.

And this is Ann with the small wall hanging we surprised her with. We all embroidered our names and then Waunetha embroidered the center panel, pieced the quilt and finished it...Ann was overcome with tears.

The following photo is not part of Ann's studio. This redwork portrait was done by Waunetha (the same one that did the wallhanging). She is an extraordinary redwork artist. Please click the photo to make it larger. The eyes are amazing. This is her husband as a little boy.

I hope you have enjoyed the tour. We will be meeting here again in July.

Today is grocery shopping and dog bathing day...AND DH is working from home..that always throws off my schedule..LOL

Happy Sewing, (I am working on two secret projects, sneak peaks hopefully tomorrow)

but, I didn't win.......or did I?

Don't you just love contests? I love filling out the forms and keeping my fingers crossed to see if they pick me...

Bren had a contest a little bit ago and I did what every good blogger does. I left a comment (witty of course!) and crossed my fingers. Well, it seems that Linda had the same idea. She left an equally witty comment to rival mine and the fun started. We left comment after comment and finally the day came. Fingers crossed, I sat down at the computer and lo and behold, neither one of us won!! Dog gone it.... Well we were happy for the winner....

Then yesterday, this is in my mailbox.

and when I open it, I find this.....

Can you read the note? If you click on the photo it will come into focus.

So, I guess in the end I WON!!! Thanks Bren... I know exactly what I am going to do with this beautiful purple fabric...

Off to Redwork Club. We are meeting at one of the members homes. She just built a new writing/quilting studio and I hope to get photos....

A little bit of nothing.....

That's what I've got to share. I have taken your advice. I added borders and the quilt is folded and ready to go to quilt guild for charity. It's for the best. My niece has done the nursery in brights and a jungle theme. Even though I don't pay any attention to nursery themes when I make baby quilts I can at least stick with the primary colors. So back to the drawing board..or the quilt magazines.

It will be a boring day today. Have errands to run, clothes to wash...BORING!!

I hope to start looking at patterns tonight. Any ideas?

And what's a blog post without a photo? My little bit of something....isn't she the cutest...

gift or charity???

Sometimes ideas in my head don't quite work out. I liked the sketch of this quilt, but I am not sure about the final product...

I will be adding a green border, probably no wider than the sashing. Then binding in the same green.

So, is it a baby quilt for my niece due in June (with a boy) OR a charity quilt for my quilt guild...

I will try this idea again. Maybe with lighter colors and white background.

WeeWonderful Bunny...

Yesterday while everyone else was sitting and watching the Super Bowl, I was up in my sewing room. Sorry, I don't watch football and wouldn't know a foul from a fowl...

Not the best photos. It is supposed to be able to stand on it's own two feet(well, it's own bottom)... but I didn't know what to put in there to make it stand up and it is going to a one year old that might chew on it, so only stuffing in there.
I liked the pattern, it was free, it was easy and it is pink with white polka dots...

The pattern says to use a pompon for the butt (I used two pieces of fabric and made them just like the ears) and to put eyes and nose and such. Again, not for a year old. Simple is best. Let her imagination work.

Hope she likes it...

Off to the sewing room to work on that sneak peak..

Chick Flick and sledding....

Took off to see "Bride Wars" yesterday. I really like Anne Hathaway. This is a different kind of role for her (you will see her bump and grind like the best.) Cute story line that was a bit slow at the start, but was funny and had a surprise ending that I didn't see coming. Well worth it Chick Flick...
And just how do they make movie popcorn taste so good. I don't add butter or sale or any of the other 7 seasonings they had on the table, but I even bring the leftovers home to enjoy cold...LOL

Went to Hancocks and found the perfect fabric for the sneak peak project. I hope to get it cut and start some sewing on it today.

Also went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and found a kitchen timer (DH always wants to make popcorn in the microwave while I am baking and using the timer), a water thermometer so I don't kill my bread yeast and a container for the dog food. On rollers no less!! LOL... Did you know that Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons don't expire and they WILL take more than one coupon per customer. They will accept a coupon for each item. My sister gave me two of her coupons so I got 20% off two items. Not bad!

She got a steal...bought two table lamps and a floor lamp. Regular price $99 on sale for $59 and then she used another 20% off coupon...

Not much else going on here. Temp in the 50's yesterday so the snow is almost all gone. I am glad cause I get my hair cut Monday and my little VW bug doesn't make it out too well on snow and ice.

No photo today, so here is my son (on the right) and his friend sledding last week. Well, I should say they tried to sled, but wasn't very successful. If I knew how to get a video up I would show you a couple that I took, but I can't...so here is a pic...

Yes, those are trash can lids. LOL We sold out sled when we moved here. Didn't think at 16 he would use one, but guess I was wrong. They eventually borrowed the neighbor kids, but still couldn't get the hang of it...
